I, May Naugler-Burgess, would like to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to various people before and during my surgery and eight-week recovery stages. Much appreciation goes out to Dr. Fergerson and the VON in the days leading up to my surgery. First, to the Halifax Infirmary, 4th floor, both nursing staff and Dr. Gerald Mackean and his entire team. Second, to the Nova Scotia Rehabilitation Centre, 8th floor nursing staff, plus all those on the team involved with my success, including Dr. Kirby and his team members. I thank Andy and the Sackville Kinsmen Club for the purchase of my wheelchair. I thank my old friends, Rev. Catherine House, family and my new-found music jam friends for all the cards, visits, gifts, flowers and all the uplifting phone calls. Thank you Mary Hirtle, Lil and Cecil and Helen Seman for all the words of wisdom. To save the best for last, first I thank you, Richard, the love of my life, for your everlasting love and support. Second, to my brother Rex and Linda for all the support, phone calls, trips back and forth to Halifax and watching over Richard. Once again no words can ever express the gratitude from Richard's and my heart. Your help has always been up and beyond the call of duty. Thank you. There will never be a doubt in our minds that my life would not be so good if all these people, plus fate and faith, would not have been involved. Thank you one and all. On December 27, 1930, I made an entrance in this world with no fanfare. However, 80 years later my family entertained relatives, friends and neighbours from near and far at an open house at my home. I really appreciate the cards, gifts, money, phone calls and e-mails for which I thank each and every one. My heartfelt appreciation goes to my family for hosting this wonderful party.
