Musique Royale presents The Three Cantorsby Robert Hirtle A trio of performing Anglican priests are coming to Lunenburg as part of a three-concert tour of the province.
Rev. Canon Bill Cliff, Rev. Canon David Pickett and The Very Rev. Peter Wall, collectively known as The Three Cantors, will be performing at St. John's Anglican Church February 3 at 7:30 p.m. Rev. Canon Cliff, who has been singing most of his life, received his first musical training at Lambton Central High School in Petrolia, Ontario, before later studying with Alvin Reimer at the Faculty of Music at the University of Western Ontario. A graduate of Huron University College who was ordained in 1992, Rev. Canon Cliff enjoys Broadway and light jazz, as well as Gregorian chants. He has sung with a number of community choirs as a soloist and has toured extensively as a member of The Three Cantors. Rev. Canon Pickett, also a graduate of Huron University College, was ordained in 1989. He first began singing at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in St. George, Ontario, and, after competing extensively in music festivals throughout that province, later guested as a performer with the Brantford Symphony Orchestra and recorded an album of sacred and secular music with CBC Radio. He has sung with a variety of singing groups throughout Ontario, and toured Britain and Europe on two occasions with The Gerald Fagan Singers of London, Ontario. The Very Rev. Wall studied music in London, Calgary and Toronto, earning a degree in voice performing from the University of Toronto. He has performed as a soloist and recitalist with an array of noted Canadian orchestras, including the Windsor Symphony, the London Fanshawe Symphonic Chorus and Orchestra, Symphony Hamilton and the Canadian Opera Company. A graduate of Huron University College, The Very Rev. Wall was ordained a priest in 1989. Arranger and accompanist for the concert, which is being presented through Musique Royale, is Angus Sinclair. A graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University where he obtained his bachelor of music in organ performance, Mr. Sinclair has been director of music at a variety of churches in Southwestern Ontario, including his current position at Bishop Cronyn Memorial Anglican Church in London since 2008.
