Myles, Luedecke and Sherwood to headline at Little River Folk in 2011 The annual Little River Folk concert series returns in early 2011 with three concerts featuring the finest emerging and established artists from Nova Scotia.
Ian Sherwood, David Myles and Old Man Luedecke will headline three shows this spring alongside many special guests. On March 12, Ian Sherwood will host a songwriters' circle alongside Kim Wempe and Jamie Junger. Mr. Sherwood was recently named 2010 Musician of the Year and is promoting his new release, "And Now the Fun Begins," a standout collection of engaging tunes and fine musicianship. The songwriters' circle will be Ms Wempe's first appearance in Petite Riviere. She released "Painting With Tides," a powerful collection of contemporary roots music that comes on the heels of her 2010 East Coast Music Award for Rising Star of the Year. Completing the song circle is Mr. Junger, a musical storyteller with poetically scripted songs that touch a chord in all, by celebrating everyday life and love. Mr. Myles returns to Petite Riviere with his fabulous trio on April 9. Winner of two Music Nova Scotia awards for 2010 for his album "Turn Time Off," Mr. Myles toured Canada and the UK in 2010. Local favourite and Juno Award-winner Old Man Luedecke will perform May 14. Prince Edward Island-born country folksinger Ashley Condon will open the show. Also in the works for the spring is a return engagement with Newfoundland reggae caravan The Idlers for April Fool's Day. Planning is under way for the annual solstice party on June 18 to kick off the summer. Named the Community Presenter of the Year for 2010 by Music Nova Scotia, Little River Folk enters its sixth season hosting concerts and dances at the fire hall in Petite Riviere. The non-profit organization exists to bring high-quality live performances to the area, and is associated with Music Nova Scotia's Bringin' It Home funding program. advertisement More information is available at http://www.littleriverfolk.com. posted on 01/04/11 |
